Old iPhone? Microsoft will give you $200

By October 31, 2013 Business Technology

Would you like to have $200 for that old iPhone of yours? How about the one with the cracked screen? According to CJ Arlotta, a writer for MPSmentor, Microsoft will make it happen. Microsoft is offering consumers a $200 gift card when they bring in an old, unwanted iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 to a Microsoft store.

The trade-in

Will the $200 trade-in offer work? According to Arlotta, iPhone users who trade-in their gently used phones will get a $200 gift card to the Microsoft Store. They can then use the gift card to buy anything they want at the store.

A similar move

Of course, this isn’t the first time Microsoft has invited Apple customers to trade-in their used hardware. Microsoft earlier offered consumers a similar $200 trade-in offer for turning in gently used iPad devices. These customers also received a $200 gift card that they could use at Microsoft stores.

What you need

The new offer, naturally, isn’t a limiteless one. As Arlotta writes, the offer runs from Sept. 27 until Nov. 3 of this year. Microsoft prefers that you bring in a power cord with your used iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 and the phones can’t be password-protected.
